Simmons University Master of Science in Nutrition and Health Promotion

The Be Well Solutions Dietetic Internship (BWS DI) and Simmons University collaborated to provide dietetic interns with the opportunity to enroll in a fully online, 31/32-credit-hour Master of Science in Nutrition and Health Promotion.

Simmons University’s Master of Science in Nutrition and Health Promotion program helps students develop an advanced understanding of nutrition, fitness, and wellness and the expertise to assess future research in these areas. Graduates of the program seek to influence the nutritional status of the population through the leadership and problem-solving skills acquired in the program. The traditional on-campus program has provided a quality educational program for students in the greater Boston area for over 20 years. The fully online program offers the same curriculum in a convenient online format, ideal for dietetic interns across the country. Students customize their plan of study by choosing one of two tracks or concentrations: the Research track or the Entrepreneurship track.

More information about the program’s mission and objectives can be found here. You may also review an informational video about their MS program here.

Admission and Application Requirements

Individuals interested in this pathway will need to apply separately to each program as part of the MS/DI pathway application process. More information is detailed below for each program’s admissions and application requirements.

Simmons University

The admission requirements for Simmons University are as follows:

  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree (BS or BA) from a regionally accredited US college or university or an overseas institution of higher learning recognized by the Ministry of Education in the home country.
  • An overall GPA of 3.0 or better in prerequisite courses, and the cumulative GPA.
  • The GRE is not required for admission.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and a separate application is not required for BWS DI applicants. Rather, Simmons University uses DICAS materials that interns submit to BWS DI. Applicants must submit a Release of Information Form to BWS DI so that DICAS materials may be provided to Simmons University. Additionally, BWS DI interns will have their Simmons University application fee waived.

If admitted to Simmons University, BWS DI interns will have a reduced enrollment deposit if admitted ($200 from $750). More information about tuition, financial aid, and scholarships can be found here.

Any BWS DI applicant who is granted admission to Simmons University will receive a guaranteed $10,000 scholarship award toward tuition. Applicants with a GPA above 3.3 may be eligible for a higher scholarship amount (up to $15,000) but this is not guaranteed.
